Education grant opportunities
School security grants are funds provided by the government or non-profit organizations to help schools improve safety and security for students and staff. Take a look at 3 of the major Federal education grants below.
Looking for other grant opportunities? There are many more grants, even on a state level. Reach out to learn more and get correctly matched to the grant that meets your needs.
The Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) provides funding support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements and activities to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist attacks. The intent of this program is to integrate nonprofit preparedness activities with broader state and local preparedness efforts.
Eligible uses & technology
Security-related planning, exercises, and training
Acquisition and installation of security equipment (including improvements) on real property (including buildings) owned or leased by the nonprofit organization at the time of application. Security cameras, access controls and cybersecurity enhancements are specifically noted in the notice of funding
The SSVP program implements training that will improve school climate using school-based behavioral threat assessments and/or intervention teams to identify school violence risks among students, technological solutions shown to increase school safety such as anonymous reporting technology, and other school safety strategies that assist in preventing violence.
Unlike the School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP), funds cannot be used for school hardening equipment. This program would best serve members of Axis Communications TIP program.
The SVPP grant is an annual appropriation. Each year, the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) office within DOJ solicits grant applications from eligible entities for tens of millions of dollars in funding.
Eligible uses & technology
Technology for expedited notification of local law enforcement during an emergency
Any other measure that the COPS Office determines may provide a significant improvement in security, such as: communication technology, emergency call boxes, intercom systems, panic and alarm buttons, two-way radios, identification technology, and security cameras.
